The Prosecutor's Office is responsible for the prosecution of criminal and traffic violations. Its duties include the filing of criminal complaints, and the handling of criminal and traffic cases at the pre-trial, trial and appellate levels. The Prosecutor's Office also advises and prepares criminal charges for civilians and law enforcement agencies, and represents the City of Toledo Inspection Division, Fire Prevention Bureau, Health Department and Environmental Services in the Toledo Housing Court. Important civil duties of the office include the handling of license and permit cases, landlord/tenant cases, nuisance abatement cases, and environmental court injunctions where the Inspection Division files an action to prevent a nuisance from continuing.
