Cemeteries

The Cemeteries Section maintains Toledo’s five Municipal Cemeteries. All five of Toledo’s Cemeteries are older than the city itself; having been established as public burial grounds about the year 1820.

COLLINGWOOD CEMETERY
Located at 703 Phillips Avenue, this seven-acre facility at the rear of Collingwood Methodist Church was established in the early 1800’s. Click here to locate this cemetery using Mapquest.

FOREST CEMETERY                   
Located at 1704 Mulberry, Forest Cemetery was established in 1832 by the Bissell family, who set aside a ten acre area of their family farm as a burial facility the villages of Part Lawrence and Vistula. The City of Toledo took responsibility for Forest when the two villages were incorporated into Toledo. Today, Forest Cemetery is one hundred and fifty-five acres. HAUGHTON CEMETERY
Haughton Cemetery is located at 3214 Central Ave. This is the smallest Municipal Cemetery at just one and a quarter acres. This facility dates back to the early 1800’s and was annexed from Washington Township just prior to Memorial Day in 1964. Click here to locate this cemetery using Mapquest.

MAPLEWOOD CEMETERY
Annexed to the City of Toledo in 1964, little is known about its history due to incomplete records. It is located at Airport Highway and Byrne Road. Click here to locate this cemetery using Mapquest.

STATE LINE CEMETERY
State Line Cemetery is located at 6252 Benore Road near the old Dixie Highway. Its four acres contain several hundred burials that began in the early 1800’s. Click here to locate this cemetery using Mapquest.
