Mayor Carty Finkbeiner Celebrates Downtown Toledo Progress   

Mayor Finkbeiner presented a summary of economic development efforts and progress in the Downtown Toledo area for the last two and half years. Standing across from the new Downtown Sports Arena, currently in construction, and in front of one of Downtown Toledo's historic buildings undergoing renovation, the Mayor spoke about renewed interest and financial investments in Downtown Toledo.

The Second Annual Toledoan of the Year Awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, July 23. This year five deserving Toledoans will be given the prestigious award in one of the following categories: Humanitarian, Community/Business Investment, Innovation, Leadership and Mentor.

City of Toledo Refuse and Recycling Collection Changes

On May 5, 2008, the City of Toledo began the next step in continuing improvements to refuse and recycling collection services provided to residents. Changes include adjustment of routes and pick-up days and launching a pilot program for automated collection.

Advocates for Basic Legal Equality (ABLE)

The Advocates for Basic Legal Equality (ABLE) project is a true illustration of what the City of Toledo Department of Development considers to be one of their highest priorities. The City is providing financial assistance for the renovation and preservation of one of Downtown Toledo’s old historical buildings, which is currently abandoned.
