As specified in state and local regulations, a backflow containment device is required to be installed after each initial water meter for all commercial and industrial accounts, billed by the City of Toledo. A double check valve device, reduced pressure zone device, or an air-gap separation is required depending upon the degree of hazard. The installation of a backflow containment device must be completed by a licensed plumber. Testing of a backflow containment device, which is required when installed and every twelve months thereafter, must be completed by a certified backflow tester. A certified backflow tester is typically a licensed plumber. Installation and testing of a backflow containment device is the responsibility of the water consumer.
Testing results are to be submitted to the City of Toledo on the BP Test Form
A sampling of companies with testers is on the Certified Backflow Testers List
