Marinas
The Toledo City Park system has two public boat launch sites. The first is located at Cullen Park in Point Place on Lake Erie's Maumee Bay. The second, at Walbridge Park (across from the Toledo Zoo), provides recreational boaters and fishermen easy access to the scenic upper reaches of the mighty Maumee River as it flows around islands where some of the best fishing and pleasure boating in Ohio can be found.
Boating Education Course
This 9-hour class teaches students basic boating skills including boating safety, rules of the waterways, aids to navigation, docking and casting-off procedures, VHF radio protocol, and the proper use of lifejackets and safety equipment. Operation of personal watercraft will be outlined. Students do not need to be able to swim to take this class. This class is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and is recognized by the US Coast Guard. It also meets safe boating requirements for individuals born after 1982, the Ohio and Michigan law. A Certificate of Completion is presented to participants who successfully pass the test at the end of this safe boating course. Older Adult Programs
Provides opportunities for adults 55 years of age and older to enhance social, emotional, and physical well-being. The programs offered at Friendship Park Senior Center include oil painting, ceramics, cards, bingo, bunco, walking, travel, shuffleboard, ballroom and round dancing, and computer instruction.

Special Events
The Division of Recreation sponsors, co-sponsors, and assists over 60 special events annually including: Pumpkinarama, Winter Festival, Easter Xtravaganza, Senior Dances, Skate with Santa, and Mascot Skate.

TORCH
A community based therapeutic recreation program designed to meet the developmental, functional, and social needs of people with disabilities. The TORCH program provides services to more than 7,000 clients. Specific client groups served include children who have developmental, learning, and severe behavioral disabilities; physical, visual, speech, and hearing impairments; and mental retardation. The TORCH program offers day camps, trips, and social building skills.

Water Safety Program
The City of Toledo Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry offers a Basic Water Safety program especially for children. This course is approximately 45 minutes in length.
While in their school classroom or auditorium, students are taught to perform water rescues. They will witness demonstrations in the proper use of life rings, throw bags, seat cushions, ropes, towels, and other items. Rescue techniques in which the rescuer does not venture into the water are emphasized.
Additional topics that will be covered include: How to Identify a Safe Swimming area; and Avoiding Hypothermia.
Red Cross certified instructors from the Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry will conduct the programs.
