Mark Sobczak was elected as an at-large Member of Toledo City Council in November 2005. He was sworn into office on January 3, 2006.
Mark is a lifelong Toledoan, and is the son of former Toledo Police Captain, Edward Sobczak. He is a graduate of St. John’s Jesuit High School and the University of Toledo where he majored in Labor Relations.
He is currently Vice President and Business Representative of Teamsters Local No. 20, where he has held positions of increasing responsibility since 1981.
Mark is an active community volunteer serving as a board member for Harbor Behavioral Healthcare and he also served on the Center for Effective Government, the Committee of 100 Young Leadership Committee, United Way Agency Assessment Committee, Toledo Public Schools Personnel Enhancement Committee, NWO Health Care Planning, Inc. and the University of Toledo Extern Program. He is a member of the Lucas County Democratic Party’s Executive Committee.
A fiscal conservative, Sobczak is dedicated to making Toledo a city where business and job creation are welcome and encouraged. Mark also has a strong commitment to investing in our youth through comprehensive recreation programs that will assist parents in giving kids a good start.
Mr. Sobczak is a devoted husband and proud father. He and his wife Deb of 27 years, have two children. His son graduated from St. John’s High School and The University of Michigan majoring in Architecture. His daughter graduated from Notre Dame Academy and is attending The University of Toledo, College of Pharmacy.
