Mayor D. Michael Collins Updated Condition
After speaking with Dr. Christopher Cooper, Cardiologist and Senior Vice President for Clinical Affairs at the University of Toledo Medical Center, Mayor D. Michael Collins’s physician we have information on his condition. From Dr. Cooper:
- "Mayor D. Michael Collins remains in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit at the University of Toledo Medical Center following a cardiac arrest this afternoon.”
- "At this time he is being heavily sedated and closely monitored.”
- "At this point it is too early yet to establish the timing or likelihood of his recovery."
Earlier today, Chief of Staff, Bob Reinbolt stated:
It is anticipated that this treatment may take several days. As a result, Council President Hicks-Hudson will be the Acting Mayor as far as mayoral responsibilities per the City’s Charter effective immediately. We ask that the media respect the family’s privacy at this time and keep Mayor Collins in your thoughts and prayers.
The City of Toledo is still currently under a Level 3 Snow Emergency; City personnel are focusing on providing the necessary services we provide for residents as they have the Mayor in his thoughts and prayers.
An additional update on Mayor Collins condition will be made tomorrow morning at 10 am.
The City of Toledo and the family of Mayor Collins appreciate the outpouring and prayers of support from inside and outside the community.
