The Division of Parks, Recreation and Forestry is dedicated to the effective management of Toledo’s green-spaces, and to provide programs, facilities and opportunities to enhance the quality of life for all of our citizens and visitors to Toledo.

Forestry, street and park trees - Parks, boulevards & triangles and weed control - Recreation and Athletics - and Municipal Cemeteries comprise the primary responsibilites of the Division of Parks, Recreation and Forestry.

The Division of Parks, Recreation and Forestry is comprised of four (4) operations listed below:
Maintenance of 125 City of Toledo parks and facilities. Mowing of over 400 boulevards, cul-de-sacs and green spaces.
Weed Control services are handled through our Parks Operations. Weed Control service mows 75+ large, private properties in an effort to return acceptable appearance per code. Property owners are subject to an assessment for this work.
Maintenance of more than 50 athletic fields and facilities, which include baseball and softball diamonds and tennis courts. Maintenance and operation of city pools and the Ottawa Park Ice Rink as well as shelter house rentals.
Recreation presents special events such as: Skating with Santa; Pumpkin-a-Rama; Eggxtravaganza; Fishing Rodeo; Pitch, Hit & Run; and the Ottawa Park Summer Concert Series in the Ottawa Park Amphitheater.

Planting and maintaining of all trees on the public right-of-way (between sidewalk and curb), on boulevards, and in City of Toledo parks and cemeteries.
Management of the Forestry woodlot in which tree limbs and logs are recycled into landscape mulch that is used in playgrounds in City of Toledo parks, around trees, and landscapes. This mulch is available for sale to the public.

Managing the operations, maintenance and services at five (5) Municipal Cemeteries. The expansion of Forest Cemetery began in 2013 and will be completed in 2017.
